Er klimaforandringer kun oversvømmede sommerhuse og solbadning på tagterassen? Det korte svar er nej. Faktisk er klimakrisen med til at tvinge mange tusinde mennesker på flugt eller i krig - det mærker vi bare ikke så meget til i Danmark.
Torsdag den 2. Maj kl 19:00 kommer Sonnee Mo til Aarhus for at fortælle om klimakrisens rolle i væbnede konflikter i Afrika. Det giver dig en unik chance for at høre en førstehåndsberetning fra én, der er flygtet fra sit hjem, bl.a. på grund af sin klimaaktivisme. Oplægget vil give dig et personligt indblik i klimakrisens rolle i Afrika, ikke mindst i Sonnees konfliktramte hjemland, Sudan, og der vil være mulighed for at stille spørgsmål til slut i en Q&A session.

"The lecture will focus on the interconnected issues of climate change, armed conflict, and the challenges faced by climate activists in the most affected countries, particularly in Africa.
The 45-minute lecture, followed by a Q&A discussion, will explore the ways in which the climate crisis exacerbates armed conflicts. We will also examine the role of fossil fuel companies and their relationship with dictatorial regimes. This discussion will delve into how these corporations contribute to systemic oppression and perpetuate historical injustices.
The lecture will use the ongoing, neglected wars in several African countries as a case study to analyze the broader issue and its global implications. Examples from other regions in the Global South will also be included.
We will discuss the challenges faced by climate and human rights advocates working in contexts of political repression, highlighting the dangers they encounter.
The lecture will discuss the role and importance of solidarity and exchange of views as essential tools for building understanding between peoples as it's crucial for achieving a path towards justice and equality."
